Micky urges fans to 'enjoy it'
Vale boss Micky Adams is expecting another tough encounter when his side take on Fleetwood Town on New Year’s Day at Vale Park, but says that would be the case whoever the opponents were.
He said: “Whether it be Fleetwood or anybody else, we expect a difficult game. If there was ever a rallying call for supporter it’s now.
“Get down to Vale Park and cheer the boys on, regardless of whether you have had too much beer or not, get yourselves down there and see how far we can take this run that we’re on.
“The football calendar has not been kind to us and you have got to give credit to the players once again because we’ve had Rotherham away and Dagenham & Redbridge away – a north and a southern trip – but we’ve got on with it and we’ve coped.”
The manager would like to see supporters coming through the turnstiles to show their appreciation for what the team has done so far this season and called upon the fans to make the most of it.
He continued: “My message to the supporters is, enjoy it. It’s a great feeling from a managerial point of view to be top of the league and I take pride in that.
“I am sure the supporters are full of pride at the moment. Let’s hope we can stay there for as long as we can.”
