Purkiss Pens Deal With Port Vale

Port Vale manager Rob Page has completed another summer signing with the acquisition of defender Ben Purkiss.

The 31-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Vale Park on Wednesday afternoon to finalise the move.

A former Sheffield United trainee, Purkiss has spent the last three years at Sky Bet League One side Walsall.

He made 39 appearances for the Saddlers last season, including the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final at Wembley against Bristol City.

The full back has also previously played for York City, Oxford United, Darlington and Hereford United.

Manager Rob Page said: “We’re extremely pleased to have completed the signing of Ben on a two-year deal.

“He is someone that has played to a high level in this league for a few years now and he wil really help to strengthen our defence.”
