Page's Roller-coaster Ride

Page's Roller-coaster Ride

Rob Page feels that it has been a whirlwind couple of days after being named Interim Manager on Friday, after the resignation of Micky Adams.

He has admitted that there was not much he needed to do ahead of the match against Barnsley, except instil enough confidence in the players for them to go out and put in a good performance, which they did.

He now wants them to put in the same level of performance in the tough three away matches coming up and then for the rest of the season.

Talking to the press earlier today, Page said: “It was a bit of a rollercoaster ride to be honest, with obviously the news on Thursday and then I had 48 hours to get to grips with the boys.

“I had to work with the boys in a short space of time and go out and deal with the game, which obviously was a fantastic way to end a turbulent week.

“There’s not a lot of changes you can make straight away, there will be changes some will be noticed, but some might not noticed by the players.

“Overall, they are the same group of players and I just wanted to give them confidence. That’s the main thing that what was lacking; the confidence and believe in their own ability, individually and as a team to go out and show the fans what they’re capable of.

“From the first minute till the 94minute, I thought everyone was bang at it. The crowd appreciated that. They did themselves proud.

“I’ve always had the confidence in them, I’ve always know that they are capable of putting in performances like that, hence why my job was easy for the 48hours I had with them prior to the match.

“Although I did just pull a few individuals if I felt it was needed and talk to them as a group.

“It’s about them now giving themselves belief to know that – all right we have a few tough away games coming up.

“If they give a performance like they did on Saturday you stand a good chance of winning a game of football.”

Rob page has admitted that there might be a few additions to the team in the coming weeks with rumours around that he is interested in two new players.

However, he feels that if the team keep performing like they did on Saturday, it will be hard to change it.

He explained: “I’ve asked for a reaction from the players and I got it, so why change it when you’ve asked them to prove themselves, and the players are as honest as the days long, gone out and given me a performance on Saturday.

“We’re always looking to improve the squad and there might be a couple of changes and additions.

“But at this moment in time when you’ve got a group of players that have responded in the way they have, then there’s no need to change it.”
