Port Vale manager Rob Page says it is important his players bounce back from the late defeat at Bradford City when they face Carlisle United on Tuesday night.
The Valiants take on the Cumbrians midweek in the first round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Vale Park, kick-off 7.45pm.
Devante Cole struck a stoppage time winner at Valley Parade to hand Vale their very first loss of the Sky Bet League One season so far.
Speaking exclusively to Valiant PlayerHD after the game, Page insisted it’s pivotal his side passes this first real test of character by responding with a win.
“It’s not all going to be plain sailing, we’ve told them that,” he said.
“As much as we’re enjoying our performances at the minute and the results are going for us there are going to be some testing times and that’s certainly a test now.
“We’ve got beat late on in the 95th minute so it’s important we bounce back in a positive way.”
