Following their first away win of the season at Fleetwood Town and a midweek draw with Oldham Athletic, Vale go into the match unbeaten in their last two.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD, the manager said it’s important no one has an off day against the Blades.

“I think if you go half-measures against a team like this or you get four or five that aren’t quite at it then you’re in for a long afternoon,” he commented.

“But I’ve seen encouraging signs, certainly in the last two performances and all season really.

“Even the two defeats we’ve had against Millwall and Bury. Bury have proven again that they’ve scored goals at will, they’re the top scorers in the league.

“We were ten minutes away from keeping a clean sheet against them. So we’ve seen encouraging signs throughout the season and certainly in the last two games.

“To fight back against a good Fleetwood team and win the game and then to get a point against an Oldham team that are working their socks off for the new manager.”
