Port Vale go into tomorrow’s game unbeaten so far this season, but Micky Adams, feels that although it could be better he’ll take it and hope that the team can improve on it.
Micky said: “It could have been better I could have been sat here with two wins, but I will take a win and a draw.
“Hopefully we have gained a little confidence from the result the other night and we want to take that into Doncaster.”
Micky feels that the Doncaster clash will be difficult but feels his team have enough about them to get the win.
He continued: “I am expecting a competitive game. They say that teams reflect their manager and I know Paul Dickov well because he got the goals that luckily got me promoted to the Premier League at Leicester, so they will be competitive.
“I expect lots of movement from the front guys because there was nobody better at it than him.
“So, it is a real tough game.
“I think they will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season so they are obviously one of the bookies favourites.
“So it will be an early test for us, but one that we are looking forward to.”
Although Vale let in two goals on Tuesday night against Hartlepool United, Adams feels that concentration needs to improve, he can’t bemoan the result too match.
He explained: “I am not going to be overcritical of a back four that conceded two the other night when it was such an open game. Sure, I think we need to be concentrating at all times.
“When I say that, from a back four perspective, I am looking at my goalkeeper as well.
“The concentration levels have got to be spot on Saturday, because Doncaster at Yeovil last week started really fast.
“We have to expect them to come out of the blocks, particularly at their home stadium.
“So, yes we would like a clean sheet and to defend better – but if we score another six that would be great.”
Summer signing Byron Moore, has recently come back to training after being allowed compassionate leave.
Micky can’t wait for him to get onto the pitch as he can make a big difference to the team.
He said: “It is catch up in terms of his fitness, but we are trying to get as much work into him as we possibly can.
“He has joined in with the boys this week and done all the football training and to be fair I like what I see.
“I think he has a great feel for a football. He is smooth with his movements and I can’t wait to get him out there.”
