Michael Brown insists his side must pick themselves up and "go again" as they prepare to take on Coventry City away from home in Sky Bet League Two.
Speaking after the clash with Notts County, the manager remained upbeat about Vale's chances as a number of players could return from injury setbacks.
He said: "We will go back onto the training ground now, we go again and we will work hard this week ahead of the next game.
"We are only five points off the play-offs, that's how crazy this division is. We are certainly looking forward to next week and let's get some points to close that gap."
One player who could come back into contention is Tyrone Barnett, a player who the manager believes will add extra firepower to Vale's attack, along with Rekeil Pyke.
He said: "It's a big week for us on the training ground and we have a reserve game against Walsall so some of the boys will be back.
"We will get Tyrone on, Rekeil as well, so that will make our firepower a little different. Hopefully then we will have enough ammunition to go and get some goals.
"You can see straight away that having those back will make a difference, we can be much more powerful and it will be great to have them available."
