Port Vale have the opportunity to respond to Tuesday’s defeat at Stevenage, when we welcome Leyton Orient to Vale Park on Saturday. You can find all of the key information regarding the game, below.

Fixture: Port Vale vs Leyton Orient

Competition: Sky Bet League Two

Date: Saturday 28th November

Kick-Off: 1:00 pm

Venue: Vale Park

Referee: Peter Wright

Port Vale

Manager: John Askey

Form: WLLLL

Top Goal Scorer: Devante Rodney (3 goals)

The Valiants will be looking to pick themselves up from Tuesday’s defeat at Stevenage with three points against play-off chasing Leyton Orient at Vale Park on Saturday.

However, a win would take Vale onto level points with the final play-off spot holders (currently held by Salford City) so it is still all to play for at Vale Park on Saturday.

The Valiants were successful the last time Orient visited Vale Park, when David Amoo’s 71stminute goal secured a 1-0 for Vale back in January.

John Askey has no new injury concerns for the Valiants with James Gibbons and Tom Pope being unavailable, whilst Tom Conlon and David Amoo remain doubts. However, both captain Leon Legge and Luke Joyce have served their suspensions and will be readily available for selection for Saturday’s fixture.

“We’re going through a tough time at the moment, but the only way out of that is for the players to roll their sleeves up, work harder, and we know with their personality and character, they’ll do that for us.”

Dave Kevan, Port Vale Assistant Manager

Leyton Orient

Manager: Ross Embleton

Form: LLLWW

Top Goal Scorer: Danny Johnson (11 goals)

Ross Embleton’s side have had a solid start to their Sky Bet League Two campaign, finding themselves eighth in the league, sitting just one point outside the play-off spots and four points from an automatic promotion position.

After winning their last two league fixtures against Harrogate Town and Bradford City, the O’s will be helping to continue that momentum generated, with a win at Vale Park which would take them into a play-off position.

One to watch: Danny Johnson

The 27-year-old forward has had a fantastic start to the season, having scored 11 goals so far this campaign, becoming his side’s top-scorer for the current season, whilst being behind only Cambridge United’s Paul Mullin in the Sky Bet League Two scoring charts.

The striker from Middlesbrough, started his youth career at his hometown club before moving to local side Hartlepool United.

He has spent time abroad in Spain by joining Real Murcia’s B team in 2011, whilst also having permanent spells at Harrogate Town and Cardiff City, as well as spells in Scotland with Motherwell and Dundee before joining the O’s in 2020.

With a strong start to his current campaign, the striker will be hoping to carry on his recent purple patch with a goal in Saturday’s fixture.

Talk:

Dave Kevan: “They’ve got a very settled team, a way of playing. They’ve got a number of threats and are a well-balanced team, but on our day we feel that we can beat anyone.”

Ross Embleton: "They had a very good start to the season, even if their recent form hasn’t’ been as good as they liked. But we have to go there with a real focus and desire to go and win the game."
