The Valiants will be hoping to continue where they left off following Saturday’s impressive 2-1 victory at Oldham, with another victory against third-placed Cheltenham Town on Tuesday evening.
Saturday’s win means that Vale are just one point outside a place in the play-offs and three points off the final automatic promotion spot, currently occupied by our next opponents.
John Askey has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the visit of the Robins with Manny Oyeleke and James Gibbons both still out injured, but Zak Mills is now available for selection following his hamstring injury sustained against Harrogate Town in September.
“I’m pleased we got the three points at Oldham and going into the Cheltenham game now, if we can get a win, it puts us in a good position.”

Manager: Michael Duff

Top Goal Scorer: Andy Williams (3 goals)
Michael Duff will be delighted with the way his team have responded to last season’s play-off semi-final defeat at the hands of Northampton Town, as his team sit in third-place eight games into the new season.
We went unbeaten against the Robins when we faced them last season, with both league clashes ending in a draw and a memorable Tom Pope hat-trick sealing our progression to the FA Cup third-round in a 3-1 win.
One to watch: Chris Hussey
The left-back from Hammersmith has been a consistent presence in the Robins’ side since joining the club in 2018, with solid performance’s making him almost un-droppable.
Hussey played for both Woking and AFC Wimbledon during his youth career before signing for the latter on a professional basis in 2007.
Since then, he has played for a multitude of clubs including Coventry City, Burton Albion, Bury and Sheffield United.
After a loan spell at Swindon Town, the Robins had seen enough to convince them to sign the free-agent in May 2018, and he has been almost ever-present for them since.
Talk:
John Askey: “Cheltenham have done well over the past couple of years, and I expect them to be in and around there come the end of the season.”
Michael Duff: “They’ve definitely got an identity in the way they play. The front three are really attacking and the two midfielders like to bomb on and join in as well.”
