Port Vale kick off their Emirates FA Cup campaign on Sunday afternoon as Sunderland make the trip to Vale Park in what will be a televised fixture, and the match officials have now been confirmed.
Anthony Backhouse will be the man in the middle for the clash, and he has refereed 15 games so far in the 2018/19 season, with a breakdown of those listed below:
7 Sky Bet League One games
5 Sky Bet League Two games
2 Carabao Cup games
1 Checkatrade Trophy game
In those 15 fixtures, Backhouse has handed out a total of 37 yellow cards, with four of those being handed out in his last game as Lincoln City edged past Forest Green Rovers in Sky Bet League Two. He has also shown two red cards this season.
He last took charge of a Port Vale fixture back in March 2018 when Neil Aspin's men drew 2-2 at home to Stevenage in the league, and four cautions were given on that day.
Backhouse's assistants on Sunday will be Alix Pashley and Marvyn Amphlett, whilst Peter Wright will be the man taking up the role of fourth official.
