Vale make the trip to The New Lawn this Saturday as they return to Sky Bet League Two action against Forest Green Rovers, but what happened last time the two sides met?
Port Vale have only ever faced the Rovers competitively on three occasions, playing out one win, one draw and one loss.
The last time the two sides met at The New Lawn, the Green Army came out the victors winning 1-0 on the day. Later that season, the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Vale Park, where a singular Dan Turner goal wasn’t enough to gain all three points in the league fixture.
Though, Neil Aspin will be hoping his side can replicate the result from 2012, when Vale beat Forest Green 3-2 in an FA Cup fixture.
Goals from Ashley Vincent, Clayton McDonald and Ben Williamson were enough to see the Valiants progress to the second round of the traditional cup competition.
If the Vale can reproduce the same score-line this Saturday, they will be taking their first three points on the road in 2018, back to Burslem.
