Last Time We Met: MK Dons

Port Vale host MK Dons tonight in Sky Bet League Two action as Neil Aspin's side look to continue their impressive form, but what happened the last time the two sides met?

Vale haven't lost to the Dons since 2014 when Milton Keynes came out 4-3 winners in the FA Cup seven-goal thriller.

In the 2016/17 season, Vale were unbeaten againt tonight's opponents, picking up four points in the respective season. The last time MK Dons visited Vale Park, the spoils were shared as the sides played out a goalless draw, however Vale took all three points at the Stadium MK earlier that season in a 1-0 win.

Alex Jones' first-half goal was enough to split the two teams and send all three points back to Burslem.

The hosts started the brighter of the two sides though it was Vale who would take the lead in the 35th minute.

Defender Dean Lewington misjudged the flight of a deep cross and conceded a penalty as the ball struck his hand inside the box. Though the keeper saved Jones' spot kick, the forward was on hand to tap in the rebound.

Pushing for an equaliser late on, the closest the Dons came to levelling the game was through Ben Reeves who struck the bar off a free-kick.

The win boosted Vale to fourth place in Sky Bet League One, one place above Bolton Wanderers.
