Port Vale face the Imps in Sky Bet League Two action for their first fixture of 2019, but what happened last time the two sides met?
Lincoln have come out the winners in the previous two meetings between both sides, however Vale were victorious when The Imps visited Vale Park last season.
In April of this year, Lincoln came to Vale Park looking to bolster their promotion hopes, whereas Vale were in desperate need of a result to try and avoid the drop.
Tom Pope, Luke Hannant and Anton Forrester all came close in the first 20 minutes of the affair, though not to clinical affect.
Elliot Whitehouse had the visitors first chance of the tie, as a volley from the edge of the box narrowly flew wide of the Port Vale goal, though both sides couldn't find the cutting edge to put their side ahead before the half-time whistle blew.
Vale went ahead with 63 minutes played, as a David Worrall cross found Antony Kay inside the box who expertly steered beyond Ryan Allsop in the Lincoln net.
The hosts continued to impress and Ben Whitfield almost had the game of sight for The Valiants, though his long-range effort was just wide.
A late Sam Hornby save ensured that Vale claimed all three points at Vale Park, lifting Neil Aspin's men to 19th place, whereas Lincoln fell out of the play-off places.
Vale will be determined to put right the previous two results against The Imps, this Tuesday.
