Gaffer has been following the career of new signing
Vale’s latest signing, Danny Jones, must wait to see if he goes straight into the side to face AFC Wimbledon in front of the Sky TV Cameras on Thursday, but boss Micky Adams says he is ready if called upon.
He is a player who can play anywhere down the left hand side, but many will feel it will be in the left back spot Jones is more likely to figure.
The manager said: “He’s a left sided player who can operate all down the left hand side, but predominately at Sheffield Wednesday he has been used as a left back.
“I have seen him on numerous occasions since he was a young boy at Wolves and followed his career. He had a particularly good spell at Northampton Town a few years ago.
“He fits the bill as far as we are concerned. He’s quick, athletic, six foot two and we have been looking for a left sided player for a while now.
“To be honest we have not done a lot of training. The weather has curtailed that somewhat, but back in on Monday morning he had a good session with the boys on the snow and he looked as though he’s in good shape.”
