Youth Keeper's FA Youth Cup Verdict
Youth team goalkeeper Harry Pickering thinks mistakes cost Port Vale’s under-18s dearly during their FA Youth Cup loss to Bury.
The Valiants were beaten 4-3 in extra time at Vale Park, meaning they head out of the competition in the second round.
Despite conceding four goals, Pickering played extremely well throughout the tie and pulled off a string of impressive saves.
Speaking to exclusively to Valiant Player, the shot-stopper admitted lapses in concentration were the key to the defeat.
He said: “I thought we were unlucky to lose because we played good football but obviously mistakes cost goals and unfortunately we haven’t won.”
