Free Football Sessions!

Free Football Sessions!

Port Vale FC Foundation Trust is pleased to announce a brand new social inclusion and participation project to provide young people from the age of 11 and above with free football sessions to deter them from anti-social behaviour and crime.

The free sessions supported by the Home Office and local councillors will take place in Middleport and Norton on a weekly basis starting June 2017 for a total of 13 weeks and will run throughout the summer holidays.

Details of days, times and locations are below:

Middleport

Starts: Thursday 8 June 2017

Ends: Thursday 31 August 2017

Time: 5.30-7.30pm

Location: Middleport Park, Sports Court, Navigation Street, ST6 3NS

Norton

Starts: Friday 9 June 2017

Ends: Friday 1 September 2017

Time: 6.00-8.00pm

Location: Norton Sports Court, Norton Lane, Top of Ford Green Road, ST6 8HU

Councillor Alan Dutton of Burslem Central Ward said: “This type of project is extremely important to me as over the years there has been a serious decline in activities for young people, leading to accusations of ASB etc, when purely it is down to boredom and incorrect assumptions.

"My honest opinion is the majority of young people are not bad kids but bored kids, so the more we can do to keep them active not only keeps them out of mischief but keeps them active and healthy too”

Councillor Dave Evans of Baddeley Green, Milton and Norton said: “I think it’s great to see organisations working together to help give young people activities and way in which to pass the time.

"It both gives them opportunities they wouldn’t normally have but also cuts down on the anti-social behaviour issues making life better for all residents. This can only be a positive!”

The project will also aim to support young people in developing skills and provide opportunities such as volunteering to allow them to progress into positive pathways.
