Sam Foley said the whole changing room was disappointed after the Southend United loss but insisted everyone will be determined to put things right next weekend.
.Sky Bet League OneThe Valiants fell to defeat at Roots Hall thanks to Joe Pigott’s second half strike, meaning they dropped to eleventh in
Foley played the full 90 minutes alongside Anthony Grant, who picked up his fifth yellow card of the season.
Speaking to the press following the game, the former Yeovil Town man thought Vale deserved something from it.
“The whole changing room in there is gutted,” he commented.
“We rode our look at times but we feel as though we probably should have got more out of it than we did but that’s football for you.
“One lapse in concentration at either end is the difference between a win and a loss.”
Manager Rob Page felt his side created enough chances to win the game and Foley was of the same mindset.
“Lately we’ve been creating a lot of opportunities, we’ve been playing a lot of good football but the results are more important to us at the minute,” he said.
“We’d take less opportunities and more goals any day of the week but I suppose it is a positive in there that we’re creating so much.
“We have so many fair players and so many players that can hold the key to deciding games so I suppose we’ll just dust ourselves off and we’ve got to win the next game now.”
Peterborough United are the opponents at Vale Park next weekend and Foley says everyone will be raring to go in order to put a few wrongs right.
“Our home form is really good so we’re going to go back to Vale Park and we’ll feel we’re firm favorites for that game,” he explained.
“The lads will be up for it after today without a doubt. Teams aren’t going to go a whole season winning every game.
“So we have to win next week and then just pick up as many wins as we can along the way.”
