Louis Dodds feels the supporters can play their part on Saturday when Vale face MK Dons
Vale versus MK Dons in the FA Cup can hardly be seen as a glamour tie for either club, and as far as the Vale are concerned, they know this weekend’s game will be a tricky one.
Midfielder Louis Dodds recognises how difficult a task Vale have been handed on Saturday, but says Vale have proved in recent weeks they are no pushovers themselves and Vale will go into the game full of confidence.
He said: “We have got a hard draw, but if we are on our game we can beat anyone so we have got to go in there with confidence and hopefully get a result.
“When we are playing at home it works to our advantage when the fans are singing and it is making it a bit of a fortress now, so I think home advantage can help us and hopefully it will.
“It is good for the club financially if we can get through the early stages and get some money in, but for the players as well, we want to go as far as we can and who knows what can happen.
“Saturday’s game is a massive one. We have been doing well and got some good results recently and we will be going all out to win every game, so hopefully we can get a decent result.”
After a run in the side recently, Dodds hasn’t started in Vale’s last two games but he is ready to do a job if and when Rob Page asked him.
It is a competition in which he has done quite well in the past and so he is itching to get on the field of play on Saturday at some stage.
He says: “It’s a great competition. I have scored a few goals in it and have always done okay in it.
“If you can get into the third round and get one of the big boys, it’s what you dream about, playing against the big players.”
