Duffy Attends Grand Reopening Of Horn & Trumpet

Port Vale defender Richard Duffy and Club mascot Boomer the Dog attended the reopening of the Horn and Trumpet in Sneyd Green on Monday.

The pub has undergone a £350,000 refurbishment since the turn of the year led by new manager Ryan Barlow.

An ice cream parlour and pizza oven have been fitted and a new menu, which includes a two for one offer on all main meals, has been put in place.

Speaking to port-vale.co.uk, Ryan, 29, spoke of his delight with the results of the makeover.

“I think it’s beautiful,” he began. “I haven’t got a great imagination to be honest so when they were trying to tell me what will go where I couldn’t really see it working.

“But for me I think it’s absolutely breathtaking. For me it’s my dream pub, I got into the industry to run a pub like this so I can tick that off my list.”

The grand reopening was a success and the massive turnout from the local community pleased Ryan immensely.

“In terms of the amount of people that have come out in terms of Port Vale, Donna Louise Children’s Trust, Vital, Marstan Press and Staffordshire Life I think it’s been fantastic,” he added.

“Speaking to the front of house trainer who we’ve got she said she’s never seen so many people here to do such a day so that’s good on the whole for everybody.”

Staff and customers at the pub were also excited to see Duffy there as part of the event.

“It’s great to see Port Vale helping with the local community so I’d like to thank the Club for that,” Ryan concluded.
