Dodds says Vale need to do a professional job

Louis Dodds is looking forward to Vale’s FA Cup tie against Shortwood United on Monday evening if selected, but says Vale will take nothing for granted against the non-league outfit.

Vale are not expecting an easy game against a side who showed grit and determination to beat Aldershot Town in a relay in the previous round of the competition.

Dodds says Vale need to keep doing what they have been doing well recently and the rest should look after itself.

He said: “We have just got to approach it like any other game. We need to go there, be professional and do a job.

“It will probably be the biggest game they have ever played and it’s on TV so we have got to go there in the right frame of mind and hopefully we will do a job.

“We don’t want to get sucked into a giant killing but we know it is going to be a hard game, they are there through merit and they are a good team, so have got to go there and make sure we get a result.”

Vale will be screening the match in the Valiants’ Suite – tickets £6 per person (includes pie and pint, or soft drink for children) – Tickets can be purchased at the Ticket Office.
