Vale will be looking to finish their season in a flurry as they travel to Gigg Lane to face the promoted Bury. The gaffer has urged his Port Vale players to put in a performance they can be proud as they bring an end to their 2018/19 campaign.
Despite their difference in league position, Port Vale came out the victors the last time these two sides met courtesy of Tom Pope's second-half strike. The skipper's goal ensured all three points remained in Burslem.
Going into the clash, Vale face no new injury news as Manny Oyeleke is expected to miss out once again as he is yet to recover from a muscle injury picked up against Crewe. That aside, Askey has a fully fit squad to choose from.
"I've said for a while that I wanted to finish on 50 points, so if we get three points we'll achieve what we set out to do."
John Askey, Manager
Bury
Form: DWDLLLWLWD
League Position: 2nd
Top Goal Scorer: Nicky Maynard (21 goals)
The Shakers will be in full on party mode having gained promotion to Sky Bet League One last weekend. Their 1-1 draw with Tranmere Rovers was enough to amass a high enough points total to secure automatic to League One.
Will Aimson may miss out of this afternoon's fixture having picked up an injury last weekend against the Super White Army. The defender was forced off at half-time on Saturday and will continue to be assessed ahead of today's fixture with the Valiants.
Defenders Mark Ellis and Luke McCullough are also expected to miss out through injury alongside Ishmael Miller who is yet to fully recover from a hamstring injury despite returning to training over the past week.
One to watch: Nicky Maynard
Bury's Maynard has been in scintillating form this season and has played a key role in the club gaining promotion to League One.
He has represented a number of clubs across the Football League including Crewe Alexandra, Bristol City, Cardiff City and West Ham United.
Whilst with the Hammers, Maynard scored in the Championship play-off semi-final to help send his side to the final at Wembley in 2012.
Following short spells with MK Dons and Aberdeen, Maynard joined Bury in 2018 and he has committed to 21 goals and four assists so far this season.
Talk
John Askey: "I'm just looking for commitment really and a will to win, similar to what we showed against MK Dons really.
Obviously, Bury are now promoted so they'll be on a high after celebrating for the last three or four days."
Ryan Lowe: "I've had to try and pinch myself a few times to realise what we've achieved. Seeing all the pictures on social media and getting videos sent through left, right and centre.
"It's nice - I'm over the moon with it. I think it will sink in Saturday; we've still got a job to finish and we want to make sure we finish second.
