For the first time since signing the new contract that will keep him here until 2021, Scott Brown has spoken on his delight at extending his stay in Burslem.
It's fair to say that Browny has played a pivotal role in this season's bid for survival as a number of huge performances from the Vale number one have secured several results for the Valiants this season.
Just yesterday, Scott put pen to paper on a new deal that will ensure he stays between the sticks at Vale Park until 2021.
Following the signing, Brown sees Port Vale as the perfect fit as he looks to progress his already impressive footballing career.
He said: "For Vale to come to me with a year to go really means a lot and there's no financial incentive to sign. Everything ticked the box and I'm delighted to extend; I'm just really looking forward to next season.
"I've done okay, but I didn't come here to win individual trophies or anything like that. I want to be part of a successful team that is pushing at the right end of the table and hopefully, that's what we can do next season.
"Obviously, I was delighted to win the awards last week on a personal note, but I'd much rather swap those for being at the right end of the table, competing for the play-off places or top three spots.
Brown has paid tribute to the coaching staff, past and present, that he has worked alongside at Vale and credits them with his impressive form over the course of the season.
He has worked closely with goalkeeper coach, Ronnie Sinclair, since his arrival, as well as the wider coaching staff including Performance Analyst, Dan Thompson.
Brown admits he has enjoyed working under John Askey following his appointment and with the contract now signed, he is looking forward to working with a few new faces next season.
He said: "Not just Ronnie, Dan and the gaffer. You've got Dave Kevan and Pughy as well - they've been absolutely fantastic with me right from day one.
"Hopefully next year there will be a few new faces. It's always a difficult time for footballers and that's why I was so delighted to extend it for another year because this time next year, you don't want to be out of a contract.
"Hopefully next year we can all look forward with a lot of optimism."
