Port Vale midfielder Chris Birchall is progressing well following knee surgery last week.
The 31-year-old picked up a cartilage injury after he came on as a late substitute in the Valiants’ win over Bury in Sky Bet League One.
Birchall expects to be sidelined for a few more weeks but signs are positive after the successful operation.
Speaking exclusively to Valiant PlayerHD, the winger was upbeat about his recovery.
“It’s progressing really well, considering I couldn’t put weight on it when I went into surgery,” he began.
“Once they removed the cartilage from where it had flipped in, obscuring me straightening my knee, I walked out three hours later.
“I was in pain but every day since then as become a lot better and easier and just getting the rehab now and trying to get back as soon as I can.”
