Can you help to support the Stronger Together Through Winter initiative by donating coats, hats, scarves and gloves for those most in need this winter?
The Port Vale Club Shop is one of many donation points across the city, with Stoke-on-Trent residents asked to support the Stronger Together Through Winter initiative, a campaign by Stoke-on-Trent City Council, voluntary and community sector organisation VAST and businesses and groups throughout the city.
The donation points are collecting warm clothing for adults and children which will be distributed throughout the community to those who need them.
The Port Vale Club Shop will be welcoming donations until 31st March 2023, between 10am and 4pm, Monday-Friday.
Commenting on the initiative, Port Vale FC co-owner and chair Carol Shanahan OBE – who also co-chairs the Stronger Together Through Winter working group - said: “On behalf of Port Vale FC and Synectics Solutions, I am proud to co-chair the Stronger Together Through Winter campaign with Stoke-on-Trent City Council and other businesses and community organisations across the city.
“The key word is ‘Together’. We are all very mindful of the additional challenges presented by the rises in the cost of living and collectively as a city, we will support each other - especially those most vulnerable - throughout this period.
“Our supporters and local residents are always wonderful in their support of our community campaigns and I know if they can donate warm clothing to this initiative, they will.
“Every Friday at Port Vale we also host our Community Cupboard, which supplies essential food items, cleaning and sanitary products at a low cost to anyone that needs a helping hand. For anyone who is not aware of the Community Cupboard or if you would like to refer somebody to the Community Cupboard for support please contact the Port Vale Foundation for more information.”
Cllr Abi Brown, leader of the city council, added: “It’s fantastic to see more donation points joining this initiative and I’d like to thank all of the organisations involved.
“I am proud to see residents and groups across our city coming together to help those most in need, particularly at a time when we know many households are feeling anxious about the rising cost of living. This support is really appreciated.
“This kind of support is exactly why Stoke-on-Trent was voted the kindest city in the UK. We have a proven track record of coming together to support others when they need it most. We know that times are tough for everyone but I’d urge anyone who does have any unwanted warm clothes to donate them to support our most vulnerable residents this winter.”
Residents can make donations until 31 March 2023.
