Port Vale Football Club have linked up with Unagi in a multi-year agreement that will see the Vale join other Premier League and EFL clubs on the next-generation free-to-play fantasy football game, Ultimate Champions.

Ultimate Champions is a free-to-play cross-league fantasy football game that gives you the opportunity to build the best possible team with real world players and earn rewards based on how the players perform in real life.
The unique Ultimate Champions scoring system values every position on the pitch in the most balanced way possible, using wide-ranging statistics from Stats Perform. This is a real differentiator and means players in positions such as defensive midfielder are finally rewarded for their actions with passes, blocks and interceptions being valued in addition to goals and assists.
You are not limited to selecting players from one league in a specific country and can build a truly international team by picking players from any league in the world that is part of Ultimate Champions. This presents a real test of your global football knowledge and provides you with the opportunity to scout for up-and-coming talented footballers around the world.
In Ultimate Champions, you can earn in-game currency and you have the opportunity to purchase digital player card NFTs.
Play-to-earn
Ultimate Champions is driven by a play-to-earn mechanic, and within the game each player is represented by a unique digital player card – also known as an NFT (non-fungible token). These can be likened to collectible football stickers, only in a digital form. Your digital player cards can be kept as collectibles or can be sold. The digital player cards can be used across multiple seasons, provided the relevant player does not change clubs, meaning your team does not reset and lose all value at the end of a season.
The concept is simple: the more successful you are in the game; the more digital player cards you will earn. It’s then up to you whether you wish to keep your cards or trade them with other users. However, you can play the game in its entirety for free, without having to purchase digital player cards.
In-game currency
Like many free-to-play digital games, Ultimate Champions has its own in-game currency that you can earn and spend on the platform. There are two in-game currencies in Ultimate Champions, $CHAMP (ultimate champions token) and $MGC (manager contracts).
However, you can play the game in its entirety for free, without having to use the currency.
