We welcome Newport to Vale Park on Monday. Let's take a detailed look at our visitors
In the Dugout
Newport born James Rowberry is in charge at County and in first managerial role. He joined the club in October of this year after Michael Flynn left the club.
Man with the Armband
28-year-old Matty Dolan captains Newport County where he has been since 2017. He spent his youth career at Middlesbrough but never made a professional appearance for them. He went on loan to Yeovil Town, Hartlepool United and Bradford City before signing permanently in 2014. He went back on loan to Hartlepool for a short period before joining Yeovil again on a permanent basis in 2015. Two years later he arrived in Newport.
This season Dolan has made 34 appearances in all competitions scoring twice, assisting three times and picking up three yellow cards. His goals came against Leyton Orient in September and at home to Sutton United.
Star Man
Striker Dominic Telford is having quite the season. He is the Exiles top scorer with 26 goals in all competitions. He spent his youth career at Blackpool before making the move to the first team in 2014. A year later he moved to Stoke but never made an appearance and instead went to Bristol Rovers on loan. After Stoke he played for Bury, Plymouth and joined Newport in January of 2021.
The 25-year-old scored in his last appearance but failed to score in his previous 10 before that. He had an extraordinary October scoring seven goals in three games.
Last time out and recent form
Newport have lost four and won one of their last five games. They beat Swindon Town away 1-0 with a 90th minute own goal but were defeated by Exeter City, Crawley Town, Sutton United and Colchester United.
Their last game was against Colchester where Telford put the Exiles in front on 40 minutes but Colchester turned the game around in the second half with two goals in ten minutes thanks to John Akinde and Noah Chilvers to hand Newport a third straight defeat.
