Port Vale Football Club can confirm that David Amoo has departed the cub following the expiration of his contract.

The 31-year-old made 100 appearances for the club following his arrival from Cambridge United in July 2019.

The attacker established himself as a mainstay in the side under John Askey during his debut campaign, playing 37 times, scoring five goals and picking up three assists from the right-wing.

Amoo was rewarded for his efforts with a new contract that summer and continued to play a central role in the side during the 2020/21 season where he added a further three goal involvements in his 29 appearances.

This season Dave transitioned into playing in a striker role, making 34 appearances, scoring four goals and making four assists.

He became a fan favourite almost instantly, with “Amoooooooooo” ringing out from the Valiants whenever they saw him.

Amoo’s well-roundedness not only as a player but as a human being will see him missed by all at the club.

On Amoo’s departure from the club, Director of Football David Flitcroft said: “Before I arrived at Port Vale, I had heard about the amazing qualities David has as a person, and I’ve been able to see first-hand what he’s about, and he really is an outstanding man.

“Wherever he was asked to play, he did so with a positive attitude and always gave his all on the pitch; the way that he carried himself both on and off the pitch was exemplary.

“He was loved by all the lads in the dressing room, and he is fully deserving of his League Two promotion medal.

“We all wish him nothing but the best in what he does going forward.”
