Jamie Proctor's brace and a special strike from Funso Ojo saw Vale come from 2-0 down against Rochdale to win at the Crown Oil Arena in our third pre-season friendly.
Two quick-fire second half goals from Proctor and summer signing Ojo overturned the 2-1 first-half deficit as Vale gained valuable minute before the start of the League One season.
The friendly also saw a return to action for Valiants captain Tom Conlon, for his first minutes since January, with Brad Walker and Tom Pett also getting a runout after their respective injuries.
Rochdale opened scoring on the 11-minute mark, with James Ball guiding home from inside the box after Devante Rodney fed him the ball from the left-hand side.
The home side added a second after a quarter of an hour through Ian Henderson, who managed to get on the end of a low cross to score from close range.
Moments later, Tommy McDermott latched onto a Rochdale back pass, before being taken out by Dale Keeper Richard O’Donnell inside the area, Proctor slotted home the resulting penalty to halve the deficit.
Proctor added his second of the game in the 53rd minute to level the scores, when he towered above the Dale defence to head home after an incredible delivery from Worrall.
Ojo unleashed a rocket into to the top right corner from 35 yards to give Vale the lead only four minutes after the equaliser, sending the Crown Oil Arena into silence.
The Valiants came flying out the traps with Ben Garrity seeing his header from a corner hit the post in the second minute, and Proctor couldn’t quite guide home when the ball ricocheted to him.
Mal Benning attempted to repeat his Wembley heroics from May when he hit David Worrall’s cross on the volley, but sadly he saw his effort go wide of the left-hand post.
Vale pushed for a fourth late in the match, and Benning saw his free kick hit the target, with O’Donnell managing to hold on to the strike.
