Port Vale Football Club are delighted to announce a new partnership with Her Game Too, which aims to raise awareness of sexist abuse within the realms of football.
The campaign was launched in May 2021 to widespread support on social media - leading to the campaign's hashtag of #HerGameToo trending on Twitter in the build-up to the Emirates FA Cup final and launch video for the campaign gaining over 1 million views.
Since the campaign's launch, #HerGameToo has surveyed over 400 female football fans to build a wider picture of the experiences they have faced when attending games.
Sexist abuse or harassment will not be tolerated at Port Vale and by working closely with the #HerGameToo campaign we hope to create a safe environment at Vale Park for all supporters.
In the future, Her Game Too are looking into methods people can report sexist abuse or harassment and they will continue to reach out to female fans to evaluate the current match-day experience and make appropriate changes, which Port Vale will fully support.
Eve Ralph, Co-founder of Her Game Too said: “Her Game Too is a movement set up by 12 female football fans with the aims of raising awareness of the sexist abuse happening in football.
“It's really important to have the support and backing of professional clubs throughout the country, and we are delighted to be partnering with Port Vale. We look forward to working together in the future to support current fans whilst paving the way for future generations.”
Port Vale Football Club Chair and Co-Owner, Carol Shanahan OBE said;” Port Vale FC is delighted to be working in partnership with Her Game Too as a club which embraces the idea of football being totally inclusive for all.
“We are proud to be a club that has strong female representation on the board and in other roles around our club.
“Through our partnership with Her Game Too we want to help to remove sexist abuse from our game but we also want to highlight what positive steps are being taken to make the game more inclusive.”
As part of the partnership our Women’s and Girl’s teams will wear a ‘Her Game Too’ patch on their home kit but above all would like to remind fans that if any abuse is heard or experienced that it is reported as a matter of urgency to the nearest steward.
Abuse of any nature has never been and will never be tolerated at Vale Park.
Her Game Too can be found on Twitter and Instagram using the @HerGameToo handle, as well as on Facebook as ‘Her Game Too’.
