We’re on our travels this weekend on a seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions. Let’s take a look out our hosts Oldham Athletic
In the Dugout
58-year-old Keith Curle manages the Latics after he was appointed in March of this year. His first taste of management was at Mansfield Town as a player-manager in 2002. From there he went to Chester City, Torquay United, Notts County, Carlisle United, Northampton Town and now Oldham Athletic.
Man with the Armband
Captain Carl Piergianni spent his youth career at Peterborough United and made his football league debut in 2010. Whilst at Peterborough he went on loan to Spalding United and Altrincham before permanently signing for Stockport in 2011. He went on to play for Corby Town, Boston United, South Melbourne, Salford City and Oldham.
The centre-back has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season scoring three goals and one assist. He has served a suspension for five yellow cards already this season but has featured in every game since. At the heart of the defence, he has had seven clean sheets whilst in the team with the most recent being on the 23rd of October away to Carlisle United.
Star Man
Centre-back Harrison McGahey joined the club this summer after being released by Scunthorpe United. He spent his youth career at Blackburn Rovers, Liverpool and Blackpool. He made his professional debut in 2014 for the Tangerines and later played for Sheffield United, Tranmere Rovers on loan, Rochdale, Scunthorpe United and Oldham.
The 26-year-old was injured at the beginning of the season but was back in the side on the 25th of September and has started every game since, making 12 appearances scoring once which was in his last game on Tuesday night in a 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town in the Emirates FA Cup 1st round replay. He has also picked up one yellow card in the FA Cup.
Top Scorer
With five goals in all competitions Davis Keillor-Dunn is the Latics top scorer. Three of them came in the league, one away to Rochdale and a brace at home to Stevenage. He scored the equaliser against Ipswich in the Emirates FA Cup and got another in a 3-2 defeat to Leeds United U21s.
Last time out and recent form
Oldham have lost four and drawn once in their last five games. The draw came against Ipswich in the Emirates FA Cup but they later lost the replay. They were beaten by Swindon and Exeter in the league and were also defeated in the Papa John’s Trophy against Tranmere.
In their last game a replay was needed to split Ipswich and Oldham. It was the League Two side who took the lead through McGahey on 29 minutes before it was cancelled out seven minutes later by Conor Chaplin. Ipswich won the game in the 81st minute thanks to Idris El Mizouni.
Their Home
Boundary Park has a capacity of 13,512 and was opened in 1904. In 1986 a plastic pitch was installed to try and increase club funds but it had to be ripped up in 1991 due to league rules. It has been nicknamed Ice Station Zebra having been known to be the coldest stadium in the EFL.
