Tom Conlon signs contract extension

Port Vale Football Club is delighted to announce that midfielder Tom Conlon has signed a contract extension, which will see him stay with the Valiants until 2024.

This new deal comes after a standout personal season for the midfielder which saw him score 10 goals and deliver eight assists during the 2021/22 SkyBet League 2 season.

Conlon picked up five awards at the club's annual end of season awards including; Fans' Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year. His volley from the halfway line against Barrow was voted Goal of the Season by Vale supporters and won the EFL’s SkyBet League 2 Goal of the Month Award.

The Vale skipper spent his youth career at Stoke City, Newcastle Town and Peterborough United and turned professional for the Posh in 2013.

After a short spell on loan with Stevenage he made the move permanently in January 2015 where he would go on to make 71 appearances for Boro.

Conlon’s time in Hertfordshire would last three years before making a return to his home city of Stoke-on-Trent to join the Valiants.

Despite an injury set-back early on in his first season, Conlon impressed with a number of performances in midfield during the 2018/19 campaign, in a season which saw him win the goal of the season award after scoring a stunning 25-yard volley against Yeovil Town.

The 25-year old has gone on to make 114 cup and league appearances for the Valiants scoring 14 goals, he became captain January 2021.

Speaking about Tom's new contract, Manager Darrell Clarke said: "We're delighted that Tom has committed to the football club, he was a standout player for the club last season and this new deal is an extremely important part in what will be a very busy summer.

"Tom has been outstanding for me since I came into the club, and he has led by example on and off the pitch. He understands and believes in what we want to achieve and he opitimises what we want to build here.

"He is a firm fan favourite and I'm sure our supporters will be delighted with this news."
