Port Vale Manager Darrell Clarke and Captain Tom Conlon have been shortlisted for the Sky Bet League Two Manager and Player of the Month for April.
Clarke is in contention for the accolade after guiding the Valiants to five wins and a draw from our six April fixtures, which formed a nine-game unbeaten run finally ended away at Grimsby. In addition, Vale kept five clean sheets, conceding just a single goal during the period in question.
Clarke’s rivals for the monthly award are Salford’s Gary Bowyer, Cheltenham’s Michael Duff and Hayden Mullins of Colchester United.
The captain scored three goals over the April period, including an unforgettable volley from the centre circle away at the Progression Solicitors Stadium against Barrow, to take his tally for the season to double figures (10).
Conlon also becomes the first Vale central midfielder to reach doubles figures in a season since Micky Cummins in the 2005/06 season, 15 years ago.
His competitors for the award are Salford’s Ian Henderson, Paul Mullins of Cambridge and Ben Tozer of Cheltenham.
