Port Vale is delighted to announce the appointment of Nathan Rooney as Head of Coaching.
Nathan is one of the brightest young coaches in English football – with significant coaching experience under his belt, most notably as Assistant Manager at Crawley Town and First Team Coach at Carlisle United.
He was also a youth coach at Blackburn Rovers and Professional Lead Head Coach at Fleetwood Town where he worked closely with a number of managers in order to implement new strategies for developing players and staff.
Nathan stated that his respect for our Director of Football, David Flitcroft, had been a huge draw for him alongside the potential of Port Vale FC.
The 31-year-old is a UEFA Pro candidate, and is also close to completing the LMA Diploma in Football Management in order to add to his existing qualifications.
He will now work closely under David Flitcroft’s leadership to ensure that all of the coaches and players work towards building the Club’s identity and playing philosophy.
Port Vale Director of Football David Flitcroft said: “We’ve been through a robust recruitment process and Nathan is a superb acquisition who will significantly bolster our coaching team.
“Having worked in both the league and non-league environments, Nathan’s knowledge of both development level operations and senior football – alongside his ability to drive high standards on and off the field – marked him out as an outstanding candidate and we are delighted to welcome him to the Club.”
