Port Vale are back on the road tomorrow, as we travel to the EnviroVent Stadium for the first ever time, seeking our fifth consecutive league victory. You can find all of the key information regarding the game, below.
Fixture: Harrogate Town vs Port Vale
Competition: Sky Bet League Two
Date: Monday 5th April
Kick-Off: 3:00 pm
Venue: EnviroVent Stadium
Referee: Rebecca Welch
Port Vale
Manager: Darrell Clarke
Form: LWWWW
Top Goal Scorer: Devante Rodney (11 Goals)
The Valiants will look to keep their winning run going following Good Friday’s win over promotion hopefuls Exeter City thanks to Theo Robinson’s early strike. Clarke's side will also be aiming to celebrate Easter Monday in style, with five league wins on the bounce for the first time since September 2010 in our first ever trip to Harrogate Town.
Vale head into the fixture in near perfect form, having conceded just twice in our last four matches where we have secured 12 points from a possible 12, seeing us climb to 16th in the table, just two points behind The Sulphurites.
The fixture is a landmark one in English football history, as Rebecca Welch will officiate, making her the first female appointment to referee a men’s match in the English Football League.
Three points would see us secure a first ever victory over Harrogate Town, who held Vale to a goalless draw in our earlier season meeting, as well as leap frog them in the table.
“The boys once again have given me absolutely everything against a decent Exeter team and we’ve got a fantastic clean sheet there as well.”
Darrell Clarke, Port Vale Manager
Harrogate Town
Manager: Simon Weaver
Form: WLLLD
Top Goal Scorer: Jack Muldoon (12 Goals)
Harrogate have had an impressive debut season in the football league, starting out with a 4-0 win over Tranmere Rovers before losing just once in their opening seven fixtures.
Their form throughout the campaign so far has seen them look set to secure their place in the league for next season as they seek to build and become an established side in the football league.
Their form has dipped however heading into tomorrow’s clash, securing just one point from their last four fixtures and scoring just once in that time, so they will be eager to resurrect their form this Easter Monday with three points able to see them climb into the top half of the table.
One to watch: Jack Muldoon
Muldoon joined Harrogate Town in June 2018, bringing a wealth of National League experience along with him having featured for both Fylde and Lincoln.
The forward found success at both clubs, with him gaining a promotion to the Football League with The Imps and scoring The Coasters Goal of the Season against Macclesfield during 2017/18.
He had a dream start to life with the Town, finishing the 2018/19 season as their top scorer with 18 goals.
He has continued that form this season, breaking double digits for a second consecutive season, netting 12 times and assisting four times so far.
Talk:
Darrell Clarke: “I’m really pleased for the football club, for the players, for the fans. It’s been a hell of a reaction in the last four games to get the four wins and now we can seriously start looking up the table.”
Simon Weaver: "When you lose three on the bounce, about that fourth one you are worried because it does get into the psyche of everyone, you can build it up, you can be light hearted in training, but everyone knows we’re in a business that’s ruthless and about trying to get points."
