Valiants! We hope you’re enjoying what has been a terrific start to the season – on and off the field.
While John Askey’s team continues to make us proud, home and away, I’d like to say a huge thank you to you – our fans – for the incredible support you are showing the club during these difficult days.
Not only have we sold more than 4,000 season tickets, but sales of our home, away and third kits have by far and away exceeded our expectations.
You’ll know by now that our number one celebrity fan Robbie Williams was instrumental in designing this season’s kits.
Robbie worked with my son Patrick and I, along with our colleagues from kit manufacturer Errea, to come up with three very different kits. The gaffer (John Askey) then approved them for our players.
On the back of each are the letters ‘W.N.E’ – which stands for the gaffer’s mantra of Want. Need. Expect.
Our unique “V” patterned home strip takes on classic Vale colours – white and black with gold trim.
It’s a bold design that we knew would get people talking and the accompanying video – focusing on the Mother Town of Burslem – told our story so far, 12 months after our family took over as custodians of your club.
As the accompanying launch video showed, our cool all black away kit with grey badge and logos was intended to be an intimidating, no-nonsense, statement kit which summed up the determination and battling spirit of Super Vale Away.
And, as Robbie articulated brilliantly in his short video which was shared on social media, the away top can be worn as a leisure shirt which probably helps to explain its record sales!
Our third kit deliberately takes on the corporate colours of sister company Synectics Solutions which is fundamental to our evolution of Port Vale as a club and a business.
The accompanying launch video, released the evening before the team wore the kit for the first time in the 2-0 away win over Exeter, showcases the Vale as a family.
Young and old, we are a community. Our players – men and women, our staff, our fans, our volunteers, our businesses and our charities.
Togetherness and inclusivity is our ethos. Together we are all the Vale.
Thanks must go to local musical John Dhali who allowed us to use his superb track Only One and to little Junior Valiant Nancy, the real star of our third kit video launch, who stole all our hearts with her infectious smile.
Of course, whatever kit the lads (and ladies) are wearing, and whether or not we are home or away, we know you – the fans – are with us in spirit during these uncertain times.
We miss you all terribly and can’t wait to have you with us again at Vale Park!
Be loud. Be proud. We’re all Vale, aren’t we? See you soon
