Port Vale Football Club are delighted to announce that midfielder Tom Conlon has signed a two-year contract extension with the club.
After spending his youth career at Stoke City and Newcastle Town, Conlon graduated from the academy at Peterborough United and made his senior debut for the Posh during the 2013/14 season.
After impressing during a loan spell at Stevenage he signed for The Boro on a permanent deal in January 2015.
After spending almost four years at Stevenage, which included a brief loan spell at Billericay Town, Conlon joined Port Vale in July 2018.
Despite an injury set-back early on in his first season, Conlon impressed with a number of performances in midfield during the 2018/19 campaign, in a season which saw him win the goal of the season award after scoring a stunning 25-yard volley against Yeovil Town.
The 2019/20 season proved to be another impressive campaign for Conlon, despite having stiff competition for those midfield spaces in the side.
The 24-year old has made 140 senior appearances throughout his career scoring 6 goals in that time.
His Port Vale career has consisted of 66 appearances with 4 goals to his name.
Conlon’s new contract keeps him tied to Port Vale until June 2022.
“We’re looking forward to seeing continued improvement. I think we saw the best of Tom as the season went on, particularly towards the last few matches. If he continues that progression then he’s only going to get better,” said manager John Askey.
“Hopefully he’ll have plenty of competition, but he’s shown before that he relishes the competition and it motivates him to push on.”
