Port Vale midfielder Luke Joyce has praised the recent decisions to award Scott Burgess and David Worrall with new contracts.
The pair have both signed two-year contract extensions, with manager John Askey further revealing the club is looking to secure a further “5 or 6” contract renewals in preparation for next season.
Joyce, who travels daily with Burgess, is pleased with the progress Port Vale has made in securing key players’ commitments to the club.
“I travel in with Scott everyday, so it’s good to see the club have tied him down. Since he got his place in the team he’s done really well and gone from strength to strength. You can see the confidence building and that self-belief.
“We play together in midfield and I help him just as much as he helps me. Vocally, talking to each other and filling in if someone’s out of position.
“Dave [Worrall] has been playing really well. He’s a massive part of the team and how we play and great to play with.
“He’s full of energy and I know as soon as I get the ball, if I put it in behind he’s going to be a willing runner and desperate to get on the end of it – That’s all I can ask for.
“It shows the club are doing everything they can to keep their best players.”
Joyce, who has been a regular feature in Askey’s side this season making 30 league appearances, also had some news concerning his own contract:
“I just want to keep playing and make sure I’m in the team. I’ve triggered an appearance clause where I’ve started 30 league games, which is good, as it shows I’m playing. The only game I missed was through suspension so I’m a little disappointed not to start every league game.”
