The Port Vale Foundation has been working hard recently in conjunction with Synectics Solutions, The Hubb Foundation and Summit Hospitality to provide for the city during the Covid-19 crisis. This includes delivering food packages to the vulnerable and offering support for teachers in local schools who are currently looking after key worker’s children.
The Port Vale Foundation will soon extend their efforts to include the provision of Activity Packs for local children who are isolated at home and two initiatives that operate through the Foundation to deliver experiences to local kids have both provided funds to help cover the cost of this work.
Super Vale Abroad (SVA) comprises 132 exile Vale Supporters in 27 countries and generates funds, through members’ donations and events at Vale Park. These funds are then used to sponsor local kids attend home games through either a Matchday Experience or Mascot package co-ordinated and delivered by the Vale Foundation. The schedule for the current season includes SVA sponsorship of over 120 children.
Patrick Scragg who lives in the Central Coast Australia and is the founder of SVA said “With the season suspended and the likelihood that at least some of the outstanding games could be played behind closed doors, we have decided to divert funds allocated to Matchday sponsorship to the provision of Activity Packs. We are very pleased to be able to continue our work with the Foundation to provide positive support to local children during these difficult times and will be doing our best to encourage further donations to help this worthy cause.”
Neil Dawson, Chair of the Vale Park Community Initiative (VPCI) added “Much of our work in delivering small community related projects, including our partnership with SVA, is accomplished through the Vale Foundation working with local schools. We are determined to continue this work despite the current circumstances and VPCI will therefore be adding to the contribution from SVA to further support the cost of the Activity Packs that the Foundation will distribute.”
Head of Community at Port Vale Tom Sherratt and his team are currently working hard behind the scenes putting together the Activity Packs which will include a selection of educational games and fun exercises. These will then be delivered to local families along with food packages where appropriate.
Tom is delighted with the assistance which will cover the cost of 100 Packs and said “We are doing our best to help the most vulnerable and we know that the kids will be very pleased to receive the Activity Packs. The support that SVA and VPCI are providing is invaluable and will help us to put a smile on lots of children’s faces during these very demanding times.”
