Port Vale look set to make a number of changes to their starting eleven on Saturday as Colchester United make the long journey to Burslem.
Vale will hope to get back to winning ways following last weekend’s disappointing 3-2 defeat at Accrington Stanley with Neil Aspin looking to shake-up his squad.
Speaking to the local media, Aspin is aware of what his team line-up will be at 3pm, as he prepares for the important encounter.
He said: “There has to be a possibility of changes.
“I haven’t been happy with the previous performances, so we have to look at shaking a few things up.
Aspin knows what he wants from his squad and is aware of the importance of the next few games, leading until the end of the season. The gaffer believes that his squad must be better all-around the pitch.
“We need to be brave, create chances and score some more goals,” added the gaffer.
“All round we have to do better. I’m not going into the remainder of the season sitting back, hoping to keep clean sheets.
“We need to be positive – especially in the home games. We need to be on the front-foot and proactive when creating chances.”
With The U’s next up for The Valiants, the gaffer hopes to pick up the tempo for Saturday’s clash in an attempt to grab all three points at Vale Park.
He said: “The key to the Colchester game will be to play at a higher tempo.
“We have a lot of energy within the team, so it has to be improved in what we have seen over the last few weeks. We’ve got to put more pressure on the opposing defenders and, without throwing bodies forward, create more chances.
“We have to make sure that we are on the front-foot in our remaining home games.”
