With The Valiants welcoming play-off chasing Newport County AFC to Vale Park this Saturday, we take a look back at what happened in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
The Valiants fought back from 1-0 down to claim a point late on away from home.
Newport's Matty Dolan put the home team in front on 54 minutes with a powerful strike into the bottom corner from 18 yards out.
The game was hotly contested throughout, with even amounts of possession, as well as equal attempts on goal.
The Valiants pulled the game level late on though, as substitute Anton Forrester dribbled into the box and slotted the ball beyond the goalkeeper to save a point for Vale.
Andy Jones scored five of Vale's goals, including two from the penalty spot. Phil Sproson also got on the scoresheet in front of 2,733 supporters.
With Neil Aspin's side winless in 2018, the Valiants wouldn't mind a repeat of the 1987 result this Saturday.
