New signing Kyle Howkins say's the move to Port Vale is "very important" for his career development and he "can't wait to get started'.
Kyle joined the Valiants just yesterday on loan from West Bromwich Albion until the end of the season. The defender spent time at Cambridge at the start of the 17/18 campaign, however he struggled with injury, but Kyle is hoping to regain some consistency again.
"The last year and a half, I've had a lot of injuries and been up and down with my consistency and getting back fit."
"Hopefully I can have a good run and get a few games under my felt." he added.
Kyle was one of three defenders to join the club in the past week. Manager Neil Aspin also added Charlie Raglan and Callum Howe to the ranks, and Howkins understands there is tough competition for a starting position.
"I'm going to have to fight for my spot. If you want to play you're going to have to fight for it and I'm willing to do that."
"I want to play and I'm eager to play." he added.
Vale host Morecambe this Saturday in a vital home fixture. The match could potentially see all three new signings making their debut, and Kyle has a simple message ahead of the game.
"I'm fit, and I'm ready to go."
