Port Vale boss Neil Aspin calls performance against Oldham Athletic a 'disaster', having lost 4-1 to The Latics on Saturday afternoon.
Vale fell behind in the first-half as Callum Lang punished a defensive error to give the visitors the advantage, however it didn't take The Valiants long to bounce back, as Ben Whitfield tapped home from close range to send both teams down the tunnel with the score-line level.
However, there were virtually no positives to take from the second-half, as three Oldham goals condemn Vale to a second loss on the spin, now without a win in five.
The boss claims it was a distatrous display in our final game of 2018.
He said: "It's difficult to speak after such a disappointing score-line. There's no way to gloss over the fact that losing 4-1 at home is a disaster, in terms of the scoreline.
"Really, I don't think that anyone would've seen that coming after the first-half where I thought we played quite well; we were unfortunate to go a goal behind.
"We came out the second-half in a positive fashion but again, the goals have killed us. To be fair, they were good on the break, but that's because we conceded that second goal. It's really disappointing, and there's not anything positive you can say after that score-line."
Up next are table-topping Lincoln City, as Vale make the trip to Sincil Bank on New Years Day looking to avenge their latest defeat against The Imps.
Lincoln ran out 6-2 winners over Vale the last time these two sides met, to inflict The Valiants' heaviest defeat of the season.
The boss has claimed that preparation is key ahead of their first game of 2019.
He said: "Football is not an easy game, and in life, there's a lot of challenges and this is a game where I could go in and rant and rave, but now is not the time.
"We've got another game coming up quickly, and we're got to have a clear head because we have to prepare properly to do better than we've done today.
"My job is to try and help the players and try and help them prepare for what's going to be a difficult game."
