Vale go into Saturday’s home clash with Swindon Town on a run of three consecutive victories. Ahead of the game, we look back at how the Valiants fared last time out against the Robins.
You only have to go back to last season to find the latest fixture between the two teams, one which produced five goals at Vale Park in March of this year.
With both outfits battling to avoid relegation, it proved to be an entertaining afternoon as goals flowed, but it was Vale who edged the thriller.
Nicky Ajose did hand the visitors a lead on 35 minutes, but less than 60 seconds later it was level as Chris Eagles reacted quickest tap home a Lawrence Vigouroux parry.
It then took Vale just five minutes to pull themselves in front during the second half, as JJ Hooper poked a finish beyond the goalkeeper.
He then doubled his tally via a free-kick following a red card for Brad Barry and that gave Michael Brown’s men a two-goal margin.
That cushion proved to be key as Luke Norris did pull one back for Swindon in the dying moments, but Vale held on to take all three points.
