Deniz Mehmet earned Port Vale’s first clean sheet since the beginning of January in the 0-0 home draw with MK Dons on Saturday.
Mehmet has been at the Burslem club since the beginning of March and this was his third appearance for the club, that also saw him earn his first clean sheet for the club.
Mehmet spoke exclusively to Valiant PlayerHD after the game about his time at the club so far: “I have really enjoyed being here.
The boys have been great and I have settle in well with them. They are a good group of boys and hopefully we can carry on getting some points.”
Mehmet has competition for the number one spot with Leo Fasan and himself pushing each other all the way for the number one jersey: “It is competitive, but we are good friends, and basically neighbours.
Leo is a good keeper and we just keep pushing each other in training.”
Vale now have a week break until their next game against AFC Wimbledon after having a succession of midweek games followed by weekend games, and the 24-year old outlines the importance a full week’s rest and preparation: “It is massive to get a weeks break now. Obviously we have had games Tuesday, Friday, Tuesday, Saturday, and they have been coming in thick and fast.
So it is good that we can recover and build up again for next week.”
