Brown - "It was a hard earned point.”

Michael Brown saw his Port Vale side earn another point in their bid for safety in this 2016/17 Sky Bet League One campaign, against the visiting MK Dons.

The draw makes it four games undefeated for the Valiants at home now since their recent revival, and will be looking to build on this in coming weeks.

Brown had a battle on his hands before the game was underway though with a number of injury concerns as he highlighted when he spoke exclusively to Valiant PlayerHD after the game: “It was a difficult game especially with Danny Pugh being out and only training one day, Anton [Forrester] only training one day and the same with JJ [Hooper], so there were big risks all around.”

He continued: “Then we have Remie [Streete] who is playing catch up and [Ben] Purkiss is struggling as well. So it was difficult, but the boys have shown some good desire, but we just could not do enough to win the game. It was a hard earned point.”

With the games having been coming thick and fast recently, Vale face a full week’s rest and preparation until their next fixture at home against AFC Wimbledon, and the 40-year old has plans for his squad: “We have a lot of tired bodies in there, some boys have put in a lot of minutes and having been running their bodies into the ground every week for their team mates and the club.

So we need to rest them in the right way this week. Again, we have picked up some more injuries so we have to manage them, but it is a juggling act.”

AFC Wimbledon travel to Vale Park this coming Saturday and Vale will be hoping to build on their recent home form: “It will be a tough game against a Wimbledon team who have surprised a few this year and have done well”, said Brown.
