Last week, Callum Guy made his Football League debut as he pulled on the Vale shirt and stepped out at Vale Park.
The midfielder joined the Valiants on loan, earlier during the January Transfer Window from Derby County.
Due to the postponement of the MK Dons game the week before, Guy had to wait until the Bury game to make his debut.
Michael Brown put the midfielder straight into the starting eleven straight from the off, having secured his signature and Callum was delighted.
He said: “I was very happy and it was a proud moment for me and my family and friends as well and just to get out there on the pitch and play some first team football.
“For it to go as well as it did and the messages I got from the fans was really supportive and I don’t think it could have gone better.
“I think I’ve slotted in very well the lads have been very welcoming. I was a little nervous about coming into a new team because I’ve bee at the same team since I was 9 and I feel like I’ve settled down very fast.”
Following his display, Callum began to receive some personal accolades from those who watched his performance against Bury.
At the end of the game, Guy was named the man of the match in his debut game and within the next few days, he was named in the Football League Paper Team of the Week.
The young midfielder was delighted to receive the accolades, but isn’t getting too carried away and is focusing on the team and the next game.
“The personal accolades are always nice to get and to get recognised on a personal level is really nice for me and especially on my debut for me to get man of the match and to be in team of the week was very nice.
“As a team I think we played very well we were just unlucky to not get the result and it was just a couple of mistakes for their two goals, but we can improve on that.”
