Michael Brown suffered his second successive defeat as Vale boss at home to Peterborough on Saturday.
The Valiants’ manager feels that his Vale side lacked quality in the final third, in a game in which they enjoyed large spells of possession.
The Valiant boss spoke exclusively to Valiant PlayerHD about his teams performance: “I thought that in the first half we did not do great. I thought we were unlucky with a few decisions in the first half that went against us, especially the first goal, but we should still defend it better. Then you have an uphill task coming out in the second half.”
He continued: “The second half we pushed and we had 20 minutes camped out in their box but we didn’t create enough chances, or enough pressure. I feel that we lacked that bit of quality going forward today.”
“Then towards the end we were pushing, we had three strikers on, two attacking midfielders on the middle in order to get that equaliser, but then they countered. It was just one of those days.”
Despite the consecutive defeats, Brown is remaining calm and is aware of what he and his squad need to do: “We go to the training field. It is a new team; a young team and we are obviously trying to get them ready for Gillingham.
“It is going to be a tough game. We have two tough games coming up in London on Saturday and Tuesday. We will have to be ready for the fight and are looking forward to the game, but we have to improve on today,” he added.
