Sky Bet League One Round-Up

Sky Bet League One Round-Up

After another round of Sky Bet League One 2016/17 matches it is still newcomers Bolton Wanderers who occupy top spot.

Bolton, who have drawn their last three matches, picked up a point against MK Dons, who had a penalty saved by Trotters ‘keeper Mark Howard, to deny them moving from 15th to 12th.

Below the league leaders are Scunthorpe, as they climbed up to second with a 4-0 win against Southend, sending them back into the relegation places.

Goal difference separates United from Bradford as they were unable to capitalise on Bolton dropping points, as they themselves drew at home to Gillingham 1-1, who are one of five sides on 11 points.

There were three more draws for teams in the top six, as Fleetwood drew 2-2 with mid-table Charlton and Millwall couldn’t pick up three points against a Coventry side, as City stay in the bottom four.

The other team to pick up a point was sixth placed Peterborough United, as they were involved in an entertaining 2-2 draw with Vale.

At the other end of the table, joining Coventry and Southend in the relegation places are Rochdale and Wimbledon.

Bristol Rovers ensured Rochdale would have to wait for a first win of the season with a 2-2 draw, moving themselves out of the drop zone.

Elsewhere, Wimbledon came up against a Sheffield United side picking up form and the Blades their third consecutive win, moving into 12th.

Walsall, who hover over the drop, lost 2-0 to Northampton Town as they extended their unbeaten run to 31 games and joined five teams on 11 points.

Another side on the 11 mark are Bury as they beat 18th placed Shrewsbury Town 2-1 at Gigg Lane.

Finally, Chesterfield and Oldham drew 0-0 and in the local derby between Swindon Town and Oxford Untied, it was the newly promoted U’s who were victorious in a 2-0 win.
