Kjell Knops Talks Team Mates and Results

Port Vale came from behind for the second successive week, to earn a result from a losing position, late on in the game.

Once again, it was Alex Jones that popped up with the vital goal for the Valiants, this time securing all three points, as opposed to last week’s solitary point.

The win at home created history for Vale as they notched five successive home victories in all competitions, something that hasn’t been achieved since 1933.

Kjell Knops spoke exclusively to Valiant PlayerHD after the game.

The Dutchman spoke on the nature of Vale’s last two results: “Last week we got a draw in the last minute, so that felt like a win. And this week we did actually win, and of course everyone is happy in the changing room afterwards.

“I think we deserved to win also, we had a good second half, and I feel we were unlucky at times in the first half. We had created a lot of chances in the second half, and did enough to win to earn the three points we deserved,” he continued.

Amid the history making, Gezim Shalaj made his Vale Park debut and gave the Vale faithful a glimpse of what he can do. Knops is sure that he will impress this season:

“He’s a good player. He’s a fast winger with good skill. He’s working hard on the training ground at the moment, and I think we can expect a lot from him.”

Also, making his return on Saturday was Assistant Manager Michael Brown, who has over-came a lengthy period on the sidelines:

“He is an important player for us, with all of his experience. The injury he had was bad, but now it’ is good that he is back and able to play for us.”

With the win on Saturday, Port Vale now sit fifth in the SkyBet League One table, and will be looking to improve their form on the road this weekend, away at Bristol Rovers.

The 29-year old said, “We have to continue with our performance from this game, and play to our strengths. If we do this we will have a good chance of winning again.”
