Gezim Shalaj On Joining Port Vale

Gezim Shalaj became Bruno Ribeiro’s final signing for the club after a huge turn around of players in this summer’s transfer window.

Shalaj has been training with the squad for the past week, and yesterday he spoke exclusively to Valiant Player HD.

The winger expressed his desire to play football in England and snapped at the chance when it presented itself:

“It was the new opportunity to play in England and in League One, which is a very good league.

“When I heard about it I agreed immediately, and I am happy to come to England and sign for Port Vale.”

Shalaj admits that he didn’t know much about the club before signing, but was given some inside information from a former player:

“I knew the name of the club because of a player [Frédéric Veseli] that played here two years ago. I knew of the team but didn’t follow them so much, but I will try my best for the club.”

The 26-year old winger hopes that he can bring something different to the team with his style of play:

“I am a left sided winger, I like to cross the ball and go one-on-one with players, and I will give my 100% for the club.”

Despite training with the club for the past week, Shalaj has had a halted pre-season, and he is aware of what is needed from him in the coming weeks:

“I am not 100% match fit yet, I only started my pre-season one week ago, I need a little more time, but I am on my way to being fully fit.”
